  • Condition-based or Predictive: This may also be referred to as diagnostic maintenance. It is non-intrusive. Meaning, we only go into the equipment when the equipment tells us it needs to be worked on. Numerous examples of predictive technologies are available today. Infrared imaging, Dissolved Gas in Oil Analysis, bearing wear monitors and the like are but a few examples of condition-based analysis tools we can use. However, there are so many different monitoring devices available on the market, it is difficult to know which ones are right for your various equipment. In addition, these devices can be permanently mounted for continuous monitoring applications or they can be portable devices used at numerous locations on your system. We believe both types of monitoring devices have their place in your maintenance decisions. The portable method allows you to be selective on what equipment you want to investigate. Once you determine the overall health of your system, permanent monitors can then be applied to the critical locations and equipment you choose. Be advised that applying either of these methods requires an additional investment in training for the engineers and technicians who will need to interpret the data and make correct maintenance decisions.
